Using Art Activities to Promote Respect for Cultural Diversity of Elementary School Students, Pattani Province

Abstract
The objective of this research was to study the effect of using art activities in the different types of classrooms on respect for cultural diversity of elementary school students in Pattani province. The sample of this research consisted of 114 elementary school students studying at grades five of the academic years 2006 in Muang district of Pattani province. They were chosen through multi-stage sampling. These elementary school students were from four classroom types: 1) Buddhist and Muslim classroom which was treated with multicultural art activities 2) Buddhist and Muslim classroom which was treated with traditional art activities 3) Muslim classroom which was treated with multicultural art activities, and 4) Muslim classroom which was treated with traditional art activities. The research design was the Pretest - Posttest Control group in Factorial Design. The research instruments were 1) plans in organizing multicultural art activities 2) plans in organizing traditional art activities and 3) cultural diversity respect inventory. Data analysis was carried out by using means, standard deviations, one - way analysis of variance, and two - way analysis of variance. Results showed that there were interactive effects between art activities and classroom components at the significant level of .05 as follows: 1) The respect for cultural diversity of the students treated with multicultural art activities from Muslim classroom was higher than those treated with traditional art activities from Muslim classroom. 2) The respect for cultural diversity of the students from the Muslim classroom treated with multicultural art activities was higher than those from Buddhist - Muslim classroom treated with the same kind of activities: multicultural art activities.

บทคัดย่อ
การวิจัยครั้งนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาผลของการใช้กิจกรรมศิลปะในบริบทที่องค์ประกอบของห้องเรียน ตา่ งกันที่สง่ ผลตอ่ การยอมรับความหลากหลายวัฒนธรรมของนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปที ี่ 5 จังหวัดปตั ตานี กลุม่ ตัวอยา่ ง ในการวิจัยครั้งนี้ ได้แก่ นักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 5 ของโรงเรียนในเขตอำเภอเมืองปัตตานี ประจำปีการศึกษา 2549 จำนวน 114 คน ซึ่งไดม้ าโดยการสุม่ แบบหลายขั้นตอน ประกอบดว้ ยหอ้ งเรียน จำนวน 4 หอ้ ง ดังนี้ 1) หอ้ งเรียน ไทยพุทธ-ไทยมุสลิมที่เข้าร่วมกิจกรรมศิลปะแบบพหุวัฒนธรรม 2) ห้องเรียนไทยพุทธ-ไทยมุสลิมที่เข้าร่วมกิจกรรม ศิลปะแบบปกติ 3) ห้องเรียนไทยมุสลิมล้วนที่เข้าร่วมกิจกรรมศิลปะแบบพหุวัฒนธรรม 4) ห้องเรียนไทยมุสลิมล้วน ที่เขา้ รว่ มกิจกรรมศิลปะแบบปกติ แบบแผนการทดลอง คือ แบบพหุเหตุปจั จัย แบบมีกลุม่ ควบคุม มีการทดสอบกอ่ น และหลังการทดลองที่มีตัวแปรอิสระ 2 ตัว เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยได้แก่ 1) แผนการจัดกิจกรรมศิลปะแบบพหุวัฒนธรรม 2) แผนการจัดกิจกรรมศิลปะแบบปกติ และ 3) แบบวัดการยอมรับความหลากหลายวัฒนธรรม สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ ข้อมูล ได้แก่ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน การวิเคราะห์ความแปรปรวนแบบทางเดียว และการวิเคราะห์ ความแปรปรวนแบบสองทาง ผลการวิจัยพบว่า มีกิริยาร่วมระหว่างกิจกรรมศิลปะและองค์ประกอบของห้องเรียน อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 ดังนี้ 1) นักเรียนห้องเรียนไทยมุสลิมล้วนที่เข้าร่วมกิจกรรมศิลปะแบบพหุวัฒนธรรม ยอมรับความหลากหลายวัฒนธรรมสูงกว่านักเรียนจากห้องเรียนไทยมุสลิมล้วนที่เข้าร่วมกิจกรรมศิลปะแบบปกติ 2) นักเรียนที่เข้าร่วมกิจกรรมศิลปะแบบพหุวัฒนธรรมจากห้องเรียนไทยมุสลิมล้วนยอมรับความหลากหลาย วัฒนธรรมสูงกว่านักเรียนที่เข้าร่วมกิจกรรมศิลปะแบบพหุวัฒนธรรมจากห้องเรียนไทยพุทธ-ไทยมุสลิม
