Views on the Nature of Science of Student Teachers in the Project for the Promotion of Science and Mathematics Talented Teachers (PSMT)

Abstract
This research aimed to study views on the nature of science of student teachers in the Project for the Promotion of Science and Mathematics Talented Teachers (PSMT). The subjects of this study were fifty nine student teachers majoring in physics, chemistry and biology from four universities. A questionnaire covering three aspects: scientific worldviews scientific inquiry and scientific enterprises was used to assess student teachers views of the nature of science. Data were analyzed by content analysis. Research findings indicated that PMST student teachers viewed science as knowledge and processes. They thought that scientific knowledge can be changed, science needs evidences, and science and technologies are interrelated. However, they believed that scientific process relies only on step by step scientific methods. In their views, creativity and imagination is not important in construction of scientific knowledge and the recording of scientists is independent of social and cultural factors. The results suggested that science educators should focus on developing science teachers understandings of the nature of science, along with teaching and learning process.

บทคัดย่อ
การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีจุดประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาทรรศนะ เกี่ยวกับธรรมชาติของวิทยาศาสตร์ของนักศึกษา ฝึกประสบการณ์วิชาชีพครู จากสถาบันการศึกษาที่มี โครงการส่งเสริมการผลิตครูที่มีความสามารถพิเศษ ทางวิทยาศาสตร์และคณิตศาสตร์ (สควค.) หลักสูตร ประกาศนียบัตรวิชาชีพครู กลุ่มที่ศึกษาได้จากการสุ่ม สถาบันการผลิตครูแบบแบ่งชั้นตามภาค จำนวน 4 แห่ง เป็นนักศึกษาสาขาวิชาฟิสิกส์ เคมี และชีววิทยา จำนวน 59 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการศึกษา คือ แบบสอบถาม ทรรศนะเกี่ยวกับธรรมชาติของวิทยาศาสตร์ ซึ่งครอบคลุม ความเข้าใจเกี่ยวกับธรรมชาติของวิทยาศาสตร์ใน 3 ด้าน คือ การมองโลกแบบวิทยาศาสตร์ การแสวงหา ความรู้ทางวิทยาศาสตร์และกิจการทางวิทยาศาสตร์ วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลด้วยการกำหนดรหัสคำตอบ ลงข้อมูลใน คอมพิวเตอร์ เพื่อหาค่าความถี่ และค่าร้อยละ ผลการวิจัยพบว่า นักศึกษามีทรรศนะเกี่ยวกับธรรมชาติของ วิทยาศาสตรว์ า่ วิทยาศาสตรเ์ ปน็ ความรูแ้ ละกระบวนการ ความรู้ทางวิทยาศาสตร์สามารถเปลี่ยนแปลงได้ วิทยาศาสตร์ต้องการหลักฐาน วิทยาศาสตร์และ เทคโนโลยีมีผลต่อสังคม แต่อย่างไรก็ตาม นักศึกษา เห็นว่าความรู้ทางวิทยาศาสตร์ได้มาจากวิธีการทาง วิทยาศาสตร์เท่านั้น ความคิดสร้างสรรค์และจินตนาการ ไม่มีส่วนในการสร้างความรู้ทางวิทยาศาสตร์ ปัจจัย ทางสังคมและวัฒนธรรมไม่มีผลต่อการบันทึกข้อมูล ของนักวิทยาศาสตร์ จากผลการวิจัยได้ข้อเสนอแนะว่า ควรเน้นความสำคัญธรรมชาติของวิทยาศาสตร์ควบคู่ ไปกับการสอนกระบวนการจัดการเรียนรู้และแนวคิด ทางวิทยาศาสตร์ในหลักสูตรการผลิตครูวิทยาศาสตร์ เพื่อให้นักศึกษาครูมีทรรศนะเกี่ยวกับธรรมชาติของ วิทยาศาสตร์ที่ถูกต้องยิ่งขึ้น
