Development of Information System for Master of Science Program in Cosmetic Sciences (International Program)

Abstract
The aim of this study is 1) to develop an information system for database management in Master of Science Program in Cosmetic Sciences (International Program), the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Prince of Songkla University using Microsoft AccessTM and 2) to investigate users satisfaction of the information system. The population of the study was all 9 students in Master of Science Program in Cosmetic Sciences (International Program). Independent study was conducted on each subject independently. The research instrument was a 5-choice questionnaire on users satisfaction. Seven questionnaires were answered and returned, which was equal to 77.78%. The results indicate that most users thought that this information system was easy to use and not complicated. It could be used by the students themselves. Most users thought that this information system could provide the required data at level of medium to good. Regarding users convenience, the users thought that this information system could save their time and provide convenience in data searching about steps of learning and thesis works plan in good level. However, this information system could not obviously offer higher benefit than paper-based approach. Regarding the safety of the data, the users thought that their personal data would be safe in level of low to medium and the chance for retrieving by other persons were in level of medium to high. This weakness must be further improved. Overall, most users had a satisfaction on this information system at medium to good level.

บทคัดย่อ
การศึกษานี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) พัฒนาระบบสารสนเทศในการจัดการฐานข้อมูลในหลักสูตรวิทยาศาสตร มหาบัณฑิต สาขาวิชาวิทยาศาสตร์เครื่องสำอาง (หลักสูตรนานาชาติ) คณะเภสัชศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยสงขลา นครินทร์ โดยใช้โปรแกรม Microsoft AccessTM และ 2) ศึกษาระดับความพึงพอใจของผู้ใช้ระบบสารสนเทศ กลุ่มตัวอย่างในการวิจัยนี้ คือ นักศึกษาในหลักสูตรวิทยาศาสตรมหาบัณฑิต สาขาวิชาวิทยาศาสตร์เครื่องสำอาง (หลักสูตรนานาชาติ) จำนวนทั้งหมด 9 คน ทำการทดลองอยา่ งอิสระตอ่ กัน เครื่องมือที่ใชใ้ นการวิจัย คือ แบบสอบถาม ชนิด 5 ตัวเลือก ผลการวิจัยพบว่ามีผู้ส่งแบบสอบถามคืน 7 ฉบับ คิดเป็นร้อยละ 77.78 ผู้ใช้ส่วนใหญ่มีความเห็นว่า ระบบสารสนเทศนี้ใช้ง่าย ไม่ซับซ้อน และสามารถใช้งานได้ด้วยตนเอง ด้านความครบถ้วนของข้อมูล ผู้ใช้มีความ เห็นว่าระบบสารสนเทศนี้สามารถให้ข้อมูลที่ผู้ใช้ต้องการได้ครบถ้วนอยู่ในระดับปานกลางถึงดี ด้านความสะดวก ผู้ใช้มีความเห็นว่าระบบสารสนเทศนี้สามารถช่วยลดเวลาและอำนวยความสะดวกในการสืบค้นข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับ ขั้นตอนต่างๆ ในการเรียนและการทำวิทยานิพนธ์ของผู้ใช้อยู่ในระดับดี อย่างไรก็ตาม ไม่มีข้อดีที่เหนือกว่าการจัด เก็บข้อมูลแบบเอกสารอย่างเด่นชัด ด้านความปลอดภัยของข้อมูล ผู้ใช้มีความเห็นว่าข้อมูลส่วนตัวที่เก็บไว้ใน ระบบสารสนเทศนี้มีความปลอดภัยอยู่ในระดับน้อยถึงปานกลาง และมีโอกาสเข้าถึงโดยบุคคลอื่นได้ง่ายอยู่ใน ระดับปานกลางถึงมาก ซึ่งเป็นจุดอ่อนที่ต้องปรับปรุงต่อไป โดยภาพรวม ผู้ใช้ส่วนใหญ่มีความพึงใจต่อการใช้ ระบบสารสนเทศนี้อยู่ในระดับปานกลางถึงดี
