Indicators that have Relationship with the Quality of Graduate Students and the Quality of Research Works: a Case Study at Prince of Songkla University

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to look into indicators that have relationship with the quality of graduate students and the quality of research work. These indicators are the focusing points of Prince of Songkla University that will be used as guidelines for proper planning of university development. Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient is used for statistic data analysis. Samples had been received from 23 teaching and learning units, academic year 2005. The study found that the percentage ratio between Ph.D. lecturers and all tenure lecturers had relationship with the quality of research works at high level and had relationship with the quality of graduate students at medium level at 0.01, statistic significantly. The age of working unit had relationship with the quality of research works and the quality of graduate students at medium level at 0.01, statistic significantly. The whole expenses for the equivalent full-time students had relationship with the quality of research works and the quality of graduate students at medium level at 0.05, statistic significantly. The ratio between the equivalent full-time students and tenure lecturers and percentage between academic positioned lecturers and all tenure lecturers had relationship with the quality of research works at medium level at 0.01, statistic significantly with no relationship with the quality of graduate students.

บทคัดย่อ
การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาปัจจัยที่มีความสัมพันธ์กับคุณภาพบัณฑิตและคุณภาพงานวิจัย ซึ่งเป็น อัตลักษณ์ของมหาวิทยาลัยสงขลานครินทร์ เพื่อเป็นแนวทางสำหรับกำหนดแผนพัฒนาที่เหมาะสมต่อไป มีการวิเคราะห์ ข้อมูลทางสถิติ โดยหาค่าสัมประสิทธิ์สหสัมพันธ์แบบเพียร์สัน จากข้อมูลที่ปรากฏในรายงานประจำปีการประเมิน คุณภาพประจำปีการศึกษา 2548 ของหน่วยงานที่จัดการเรียนการสอน 23 หน่วยงาน ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ร้อยละของ อาจารย์วุฒิปริญญาเอกต่ออาจารย์ประจำทั้งหมดมีความสัมพันธ์กับคุณภาพงานวิจัยระดับสูง และสัมพันธ์กับคุณภาพ บัณฑิตในระดับปานกลาง อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ 0.01 อายุของหน่วยงานมีความสัมพันธ์กับคุณภาพงานวิจัย และคุณภาพบัณฑิตในระดับปานกลาง อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ 0.01 ค่าใช้จ่ายทั้งหมดต่อนักศึกษาเต็มเวลา เทียบเท่ามีความสัมพันธ์กับคุณภาพงานวิจัยและคุณภาพบัณฑิตในระดับปานกลาง อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ 0.05 อัตราส่วนนักศึกษาเต็มเวลาเทียบเท่าต่ออาจารย์ประจำ และร้อยละของอาจารย์ที่ดำรงตำแหน่งทางวิชาการต่ออาจารย์ ประจำทั้งหมด มีความสัมพันธ์กับคุณภาพคุณภาพงานวิจัยในระดับปานกลางอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ 0.01 แต่ไม่มี ความสัมพันธ์กับคุณภาพบัณฑิต
