Factors Affecting on Stress of Caregivers to Older Persons

Abstract
Thailand has become an ageing society. The proportion and number of older persons increase rapidly. They usually have health problem and need caregivers in daily life. Family caregivers do not receive payment, not only spend a lot of time and energy in care work but also need to adjust to changes in their roles. These often lead to stress and consequently affect the quality of both care providers and care receivers. This study aimed to explore factors affecting family caregivers stress. Survey on the Elderly in 2007 by the National Statistical Office is used. The sample consisted of 859 family caregivers. The results showed that most of them were women and wives, followed by children. The multiple regression revealed that factors relating to expectation from society, multiple roles, perceived health and economics of caregivers and financial preparation before old age of care recipients affected stress of caregivers statistically significantly.

บทคัดย่อ
ปัจจุบันประเทศไทยได้ก้าวเข้าสู่สังคมผู้สูงวัย มีการเพิ่มขึ้นอยา่ งรวดเร็วของประชากรผูสู้งอายุซึ่งมัก มีปัญหาทางด้านสุขภาพ จึงต้องการผู้ดูแลในการ ดำเนินชีวิตประจำวัน ทั้งนี้การดูแลผูสู้งอายุโดยสมาชิก ในครอบครัว ไม่เพียงแต่ไม่ได้รับค่าตอบแทน และใช้ เวลา และแรงงานมาก อีกทั้งการเปลี่ยนแปลงบทบาท หน้าที่ ทำให้ผู้ดูแลเกิดความเครียด และส่งผลต่อเนื่อง ถึงคุณภาพชีวิตของผู้ดูแลและผู้สูงอายุด้วยเช่นกัน วัตถุประสงค์ในการวิจัยครั้งนี้ คือ การศึกษาปัจจัยที่ ส่งผลต่อระดับความเครียดของผู้ดูแลผู้สูงอายุที่เป็น สมาชิกในครอบครัว โดยใช้ข้อมูลจากโครงการสำรวจ ประชากรผู้สูงอายุในประเทศไทย พ.ศ.2550 ของ สำนักงานสถิติแห่งชาติ มีจำนวนตัวอย่างผู้ดูแลที่เป็น สมาชิกในครอบครัวทั้งสิ้น 859 คน ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ผู้ดูแลส่วนใหญ่เป็นหญิง และเป็นคู่สมรส รองลงมาคือ บุตร เมื่อวิเคราะห์โดยสมการถดถอยแบบพหุพบว่า ปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อความเครียดของผู้ดูแลอย่างมีนัย สำคัญทางสถิติ ได้แก่ ปัจจัยเกี่ยวกับความคาดหวังจาก สังคม บทบาทที่หลากหลาย เศรษฐกิจ และสุขภาพของ ผู้ดูแล และปัจจัยทางด้านการเตรียมพร้อมทาง เศรษฐกิจก่อนเข้าสู่วัยสูงอายุของผู้สูงอายุที่ได้รับการ ดูแล
