Abstract
This article is intended to demonstrate that Thai texts on poetics such as Alangkarasat, Subodhalangkarn, Karpphayasaravilasini and Karpphayakhandh, Chindamani, Konlabot Siriwibunkitti, Prachumlamnam, and Tamra Chanthalak as well as classical literature of Ayushya and Early Bangkok periods all mirror Kon an important concept of Thai literary aesthetics which can be achieved through sounds, words and figures of speech. In weaving elegance, judiciousness, melodiousness as well as the profundity of emotional contents into their texts, the poets have manifested their mastery of the Thai language.
The concept of Kon has long been essential in the creation of Thai literary convention from the Ayudhya period to the Early Bangkok period. Thai poets have manipulated alliteration and assonance, words, and figures of speech to concoct Kon, which is then used to interlace burgeoning new texts.
Keywords : Charm of Kon, essence in the creation, Thai literary convention
