Abstract

This study aims to assess the quality of the graduate students in Faculty of Science and Technology, Prince of Songkla University, Pattani Campus, classifying the students by major disciplines. Data was collected from 142 students who graduated in the academic year 2003. There were 110 returned questionnaires, (77.5%). The questionnaire comprised two parts: general information and an assessment of the characteristics of the graduates. Data was analysed using descriptive statistics, analysis of variance (ANOVA) and chi-square test. P-values less than 0.05 were considered statistically significant. Results showed that grade point average was not significantly different among the graduates of different disciplines. Time taken for graduation was significantly different among disciplines. Students from rubber technology, biological chemistry, industrial chemistry and food science all graduated within the stipulated course schedule. Moreover, graduates of all disciplines were employed within six months, 73.6% were either self-employed or further study. For the three dimensions of the desired characteristics the Faculty of Science and Technology expected for their graduates, namely basic skills, social skills and vocation skills, graduates rated themselves as good or excellent on all areas except English and technical skills.

บทคัดย่อ
การประเมินคุณภาพของบัณฑิตคณะวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี รู้นปีการศึกษา 2546 มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ ประเมินคุณภาพบัณฑิตคณะวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยีตามคุณลักษณะบัณฑิตที่พึงประสงค์ จำแนกตามสาขาวิชา บัณฑิตคณะวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี ที่สำเร็จการศึกษาปีการศึกษา 2546 ประกอบด้วยบัณฑิต จำนวน 142 คน บัณฑิตตอบแบบสอบถาม 110 คน (ร้อยละ 77.5) แบบประเมินประกอบด้วยข้อมูลพื้นฐานทั่วไป และแบบประเมิน คุณลักษณะของบัณฑิตที่พึงประสงค์ วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลด้วยการแจกแจงค่าความถี่ ค่าร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ค่าส่วนเบี่ยงเบน มาตรฐาน การวิเคราะห์ความแปรปรวน และการทดสอบไคสแควร์ ผลการศึกษาพบว่า บัณฑิตสำเร็จการศึกษาด้วย เกรดเฉลี่ยไม่แตกต่างกันแต่ใช้เวลาการศึกษาแตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญ บัณฑิตที่สำเร็จการศึกษาตามระยะเวลาที่ กำหนดคือ สาขาวิชาเทคโนโลยียาง สาขาวิชาเคมี-ชีววิทยา สาขาวิชาเคมีอุตสาหกรรม สาขาวิชาวิ ทยาศาสตร์ การอาหารและโภชนาการ บัณฑิตทุกสาขาวิชาสามารถได้งานทำภายใน 6 เดือน ประกอบอาชีพส่วนตัวหรือศึกษาต่อ (ร้อยละ 73.6) คุณลักษณะของบัณฑิตที่พึงประสงค์ตามที่คณะวิทยาศาสตร์ และเทคโนโลยีกำหนดจำนวน 3 ด้าน คือ ทักษะพื้นฐาน ความสามารถทางสังคม และความสามารถทางวิชาชีพ บัณฑิตประเมินตนเองอยู่ในเกณฑ์ดีมากถึงดีมาก ที่สุด ยกเว้นทักษะภาษาอังกฤษและทักษะเชิงช่าง
