Abstract
This study aimed (1) to set up guidelines to enhance the conduct of students residing in Prince of Songkla University dormitories, (2) to develop desirable model and (3) to inform and encourage first-year students to behave accordingly, A seminar on favorable rules of conduct was undertaken; model students were developed; and an orientation and campaigns were carried out to encourage first-year students to behave accordingly. Self-evaluation with respect to approved dress codes, etiquette, and traffic rules observation was performed by 1,636 first-year students of the first semester of the 2002 academic year. It was found that the majority of the students under the study (71%) behaved quite suitably, except for the violation of certain traffic rules: failure to wear a helmet and fasten a seat belt, and riding a motorcycle with two passengers.
