Abstract
This research aimed to study Thai Lue elderly general data, community participation in elderly care
and factors affecting elderly integration in Chiang Ban sub-district, Chiang Kham district, Phayao province.
The qualitative study was made by using focus group, in-depth interview and observation among elderly
group, government officers and community leaders. It was found that: General data: Thai Lue elderly
earned 1,500 baht monthly. They had their own houses and lived with their family. Most of them had good
health. Health station, Sub-district Administrative Organization., villagers and temples also gave support for
elderly integration. Factors affecting elderly integration: It was found that elderly wanted to meet other
elder people. They also wanted to have jobs, incomes and also benefits from government sections as well as
conserving their traditions and cultures. This study suggested that occupation group for elderly in every
village should be provided. In addition, every social section should work with integration for elderly care
and young people should be aware of the important of an elderly.
