Abstract

The aim of this research was to study Thai folk medical wisdoms of Mr. Prawit Kaewthong. He is a folk healer in Amphur Namhom, Songkhla province. The objectives of this research were to compile and study the methods of treating patients from Mr. Prawit Kaewthong’s tacit knowledge. This research was conducted by using a nonstructured in-depth interview, participant observations with field note taking, and a camera taking several pictures and motions in fieldwork. The researchers had also participated in this study by offering themselves to be students of Mr. Prawit and truly practicing with him. The results of this study show the knowledge and competency of Mr. Prawit Kaewthong to treat diseases which could be divided into five groups namely herniated intervertebral disks, paralysis, illnesses related to menstrual blood disorder, ligament and tendon disorders, and several kinds of fever. In addition, there were four steps of therapeutic methods as follows: taking the pulse, taking the history of the patient’s illness, physical examination, and treatment by massage, herbs, and chanting mantras depending on the kinds of disease and the symptoms of each patient.

บทคัดย่อ
การศึกษาภูมิปัญญาหมอพื้นบ้านไทย กรณี ศึกษา หมอประวิทย์ แก้วทอง หมอพื้นบ้านอำเภอ นาหม่อม จังหวัดสงขลาครั้งนี้ มีจุดประสงค์เพื่อศึกษา วิธีการรักษาผูป้ ว่ ยและรวบรวมองคค์ วามรูที้่มีอยูใ่ นตัว ของหมอประวิทย์ แก้วทอง การวิจัยครั้งนี้ใช้เครื่องมือ ในการทำวิจัย คือ การสัมภาษณ์แบบเชิงลึก (deptinterview) โดยไม่ใช้แบบสัมภาษณ์ (non-structured interview) การสังเกต (observation) การใช้กล้อง บันทึกภาพเคลื่อนไหวและภาพนิ่ง และการฝากตัวเป็น ศิษย์ ฝึกการเรียนรู้ด้วยการปฏิบัติจริง ผลจากการ ศึกษาพบวา่ ความรูค้ วามชำนาญในการรักษาโรคของ หมอประวิทย์ แบ่งออกเป็น 5 กลุ่มโรคตามลำดับ คือ โรคหมอนรองกระดูกทับเส้นประสาท โรคอัมพฤกษ์- อัมพาต โรคเกี่ยวกับระดูสตรี โรคที่เกี่ยวกับเส้นเอ็น อย่างเช่น เอ็นพลิก เอ็นจม และโรคที่เกี่ยวกับอาการไข้ ต่างๆ สำหรับขั้นตอนในการตรวจรักษาโรค คือ การจับ ชีพจร การซักประวัติเบื้องต้น การตรวจร่างกาย และ ท้ายสุดคือการทำการรักษาโดยการนวด ใช้ยาสมุนไพร และใช้เวทมนตร์คาถา แล้วแต่ชนิดของโรคและอาการ ผู้ป่วยในแต่ละราย
